DIY RIGSSetups that fit your room

Which setup fits my space and gear?

Four question groups, one documented answer. The planner picks between our three setup sheets, draws the footprints against your room, filters wheels to your platform, and phases the shopping list against your budget.

1 · Your space

The floor area the setup lives in, wall to wall or corner to corner. Measure twice — everything below hangs on these two numbers.

After a session, the setup…
Can you clamp a wheel to a sturdy desk?
2 · Your gear What's already in the room?

Not every wheel drives on every platform — the planner filters for yours.

3 · Your budget

Gear you already own doesn't count. If the plan costs more than this, the checklist splits into “start now” and “add next”.

4 · Your build preference How do you want to get there?

The exact rules it uses

No scores, no hidden weights — the planner is a curated decision tree over three documented setups, and every rule that fires is printed with your result.

  1. Space decides first. Your measured floor patch is compared against each setup's documented driving footprint; pack-away plans must also fit the stored footprint.
  2. Keep-mode picks the family. Must clear every session → folding routes. Stays assembled → the permanent corner. Moved sometimes → permanent if it fits, folding if not.
  3. A desk unlocks the desk route. When nothing fits, a clampable desk is the fallback that still gets you driving.
  4. Your gear filters the wheels. Platform and brand preferences narrow the documented wheel list; owned wheels come off the worksheet.
  5. Budget phases the list, never falsifies it. When the plan costs more than your number, the checklist splits into “start now” and “add next” — the plan itself stays honest.

Every dimension behind these rules is maker-documented on 2026-09-22 with its label on the gear catalog pages. The planner recommends; it has not assembled anything — that limit is printed on each setup sheet too.
