The pack-away setup

Drive hard, then fold the whole cockpit and stand it in a closet.

Space requirements

55.1 in 36.6 in
Ready to drive Basis: maker-published ready-to-drive sizes — Playseat Challenge X 55.1 × 23.6 in, NLR GTLite 69.2 × 36.6 in. The planner quotes the smaller envelope; the GTLite needs the larger.
23.6 in 15.8 in
Stored Basis: Challenge X maker package size 23.6 × 15.8 in (no folded spec published); GTLite publishes folded 40.9 × 36.6 × 11.8 in. Both fold with electronics installed.

Who this fits

Someone who must clear the room afterward and needs the operating and stored dimensions documented before buying.

Getting in, out, and around

Unfolding needs more room than driving: give yourself the full driving footprint plus arm's length front and back while you fold it out. Both cockpits carry a driver limit — 269 lb (Challenge X) and 287 lb (GTLite).

Compatibility, with the labels on

Challenge X folded dimensions are not published by the maker — our stored footprint uses the shipping-package size Partially verified

Playseat Challenge X folding cockpit Smallest documented driving and stored footprint. The NLR GTLite ($199) is the reclined-seat alternative — compare below.
Wheel + pedals (platform-dependent) Least-expensive documented wheel that fits most platforms (Thrustmaster T128). Skip if you already own one.
Freestanding monitor stand (optional) Mounts the screen independently of the cockpit, so nothing moves when you fold.

Free Standing Single Monitor Stand

Manufacturer-documented

$199

Dimensions (ready to drive)
Maker publishes boxed size only: 37 × 18 × 4 in
Fits wheels
Supports 24–85 in screens, VESA 75×75 to 450×660 mm, up to 154 lb; freestanding behind any rig

Freestanding means it moves and stores independently of the rig — the pack-away-friendly way to mount a screen.

Assembly guidance

  1. Both cockpits arrive part-folded; expect an hour: mount wheel deck and pedals at your measured driving position, then set the fold tension.
  2. Set the driving position once and mark it — both fold and re-open to the same geometry, so markings survive the nightly teardown.
  3. Both fold with the wheel installed; pedals stay mounted too. The fold is the storage step, not a re-build.
  4. Measure your closet or wall gap against the stored footprint above before ordering, not after.

Evidence and limitations

  • No combination on this page has been physically assembled by us; every fact is maker-documented on 2026-09-22.
  • The planner's stored footprint for the Challenge X is the maker's package size (23.6 × 15.8 in) because no folded spec is published — real folded size may differ.
  • Driver weight limits (269 lb Challenge X, 287 lb GTLite) come from the makers' spec tables.
  • A discontinued "folding" TR120 appeared in early research; manufacturer records show it was a fixed rig — it is excluded from this catalog on purpose.
